Continuing the Quest for Big Hair

After reading about Osis Dust It powder on several different blogs, I took a little trip to Ulta Beauty this afternoon.

I usually buy root boosters, rather than powder because powder just feels weird in my hair.  I thought I'd give it a go this time because it's not like I could hate my hair any more right now.

Verdict:  I kinda like it!  It does feel a little powdery, but it definitely gave my hair some volume.  If it starts to look flat, I just shake my fingers in my hair and it's poofy again!  Poofy hair = love.  Maybe this is the way I can make it through this growing-out stage...

P.S.  I DID price extensions while I was there.  They all looked pretty fake, though.  I wish I could "test drive" extensions, so I could see if I could get them to look decent before actually committing to buying them.

Those are my deep, world-changing thoughts for Friday.

Drift Away

Lately, I've seen a lot of driftwood being used as sculptural pieces in design magazines and blogs.  I have to say I wasn't exactly sure about the look of it.  I like natural materials, but driftwood seemed a bit... rustic.

Then, I found a piece of driftwood at TJ Maxx for $12.99.  (Technically, TJ Maxx called it, "grapewood.")  Even if I brought it home and hated it, I wouldn't be out that much.  And what do you know...

I like it!  This photo makes it look like a dog bone, but it doesn't look that way in real life.  Here is an up-close picture so you can see the grain.

Now, here are a few pictures from Pinterest that I used to convince myself that yes, this is kind of a cool trend, despite the fact that my husband asked why there was a big stick on the coffee table.

It's a Rough Life

Watching cartoons on a Saturday morning with his blanket and milk.  Poor kid, he has a rough life.

Cute, Inexpensive Shoes

While in Old Navy yesterday, I was excited to see that they are starting to carry their spring line.  I love spring clothes.  I love bright, happy spring colors.  I love cute little flats and sandals.  I'm pretty sure I was giggling in the store.

I bought some yellow flats that I couldn't find on their website so you'll just have to imagine them.  Take a look at some of these and tell me they don't make you happy...

Happy Friday!

Thursday Randoms

  • While browsing Pinterest last week, I saw these Valentine's decorations

They are made from crayon shavings between two sheets of wax paper melted together with an iron.  My college roommates and I made these for our apartment one year, and they turned out really cute.  (Although making them was 99% of the fun!)

  • Last night after I put Jacob to bed, I heard his little feet running around upstairs.  As I came upstairs, he was running back to his room from ours, and seeing me on the stairs scared him to death!  He may be small, but the kid can jump.  Funniest.  Thing.  Ever.

  • I was finally able to put my hair in a ponytail today, for the first time since I was almost shaved bald in December.  It took 239, 984 bobby pins, but I have a teeny-tiny ponytail.

  • Monday was Food Day at Frank's office, and I made Snickers Popcorn.

(Not sure why that picture is SO BIG... perhaps it's to warn you what will happen to your butt if you eat it :)  I snacked on it as I was putting it together, and it was fabulous as the picture.  I'm very glad it wasn't in the house long.

  • Frank has been out of town since yesterday, so I had Taco Bell for dinner last night.  It will always be my fast food of choice.

  • I'll leave you with a song that's currently running through my head...(Warning, you WILL be singing it the rest of the day...)

Milestone

Last night was his first night of sleeping in his toddler bed.  I"m happy to report that all went well.
