Monday: Stream of Consciousness

Frank said I should have titled the previous post, "My 4 Loves" because the cat was also in the picture.  I actually debated about cropping the cat out-- she is not on my good side right now.

Two weekends ago was the ICCA Cheerleading Competition.  My father-in-law does the videography, and we sit at a table that day selling the videos.  After moving my pictures to the computer, I found a couple of cute photos from that weekend:

(I kind of wonder what Frank did to him mom to get this look!)

We celebrated the Chinese New Year last week as well.  Jacob and I cut out little paper fans, and we glued a dragon on a paper bag.

Unfortunately, the ONLY thing I could really find in terms of Chinese food was a bagged, frozen meal, eggrolls, and La Choy fortune cookies.  Not quite as authentic as I'd hoped, but it's the thought that counts, right?

My window grilles came in!!  I feel so much less trashy now that all my windows look the same from the outside.

Carter got a mesh feeder for Valentine's Day, the kind where you put a little bit of fruit in it and let him chew on the fruit through the mesh.  Jacob never had one because I thought it would be too messy, but I'm going to try some different feeding techniques this time around.  So far, I have put a slice of frozen peach in the feeder as well as some pears.  He likes it, but I don't know if he knows quite what to do with it.

I thought this picture was cute because it's pretty representative of what goes on around here on a daily basis:  Jacob holding a phone and Carter watching Jacob.  I can't wait for the day when they actually play together.

And finally, this post was originally titled "Friday: Stream of Consciousness," but it took me 3 days just to find the time to write these few short paragraphs!

Best Week Ever

I'm pretty sure Jacob has had the best week ever.

Last weekend, he went to Grandma Anna and Grandpa Gary's house to spend the night.  He had an absolute blast!  He got to go the the Verizon store (since he is obsessed with phones) and Steak n' Shake AND he got to play with two of his BFFs, cousins Jenna and Brett.

On Sunday morning he told Grandma that he wasn't coming home, and after Grandma told him that we would be sad if he didn't come home, Jacob replied that we could always Skype!  Alrighty then.

All week he has been furiously "texting" his grandparents on one of his many, many play phones, and when I ask him what he's texting them, he usually replies something along the lines of, "I'm telling them I can come back to their house now."

Then on Wednesday, Jacob, Carter, and I met my parents and Sarah and Caleb at the coolest indoor playground in Champaign.  I thought we'd maybe be there for an hour or so, but there was so much for the kids to do and so much room to run (indoor track!) that we were there for almost two hours! My pictures don't do it justice.

Jacob and Caleb definitely burned off some energy!

After a morning of playing, we all ended up at-- where else-- Steak n' Shake!  We all decided we needed to   do this again before spring.

So to recap:  all 4 grandparents, all 3 cousins, fun new adventures... yeah, best week ever.

Friday Confessional

I confess..........that I've eaten way too many Hershey's Kisses this week and drank way too much Diet Cherry Pepsi.  Today, I am detoxing...

I confess..........that since November, I've been trying to find replacement window grilles for the ones in our front room that have broken.  I've had a terrible time. The sizes didn't match; the colors didn't match.  The company that was supposed to order them closed their Bloomington office, so then the order was transferred to a Peoria company.  Blah, blah, blah.  Super-annoying.  Well, on Wednesday, I realized that my problem was that I thought we had Marvin windows-- because we have Marvin doors-- and we actually have Andersen windows!!!  Here I was looking through all of our warranties and manuals to find info on the windows, and I never looked at the window itself?!  How is that possible?!  Sometimes, I amaze even myself.

I confess.......... that when I confessed the above to Frank he said, "I knew we had Andersen windows.  Is that why you were having so much trouble?"  He is lucky we were at a public place when he made that revelation.

I confess..........that I drank the Kool-aid and bought the Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick in Pin Up Peach that I've heard everyone raving about.  Supposedly, it looks good on everyone.  I do like the color, but it's more of a balm-- which I knew prior to buying--and lip balms make my lips feel dryer than having nothing on them.  (I'm looking at you, Burt's Bees products.)  If they would make the color in a gloss, I'd be all over it.

I confess.......... that Carter watches too much TV.

I confess...... that as much as I love the TV show Dallas, I watched it with some sadness this week knowing Larry Hagman passed away before finishing the season.  JR Ewing was one of the best characters ever.

I confess.......... that I am really tired of being spit up on.  I know it won't be forever, but I hate that everything I wear gets barfed on.

I confess..........that I laughed way too hard at this:

Don't think less of me.  Happy Friday!
